“Internet auction giant eBay is reportedly in talks to acquire Internet telephony company Skype for $2 billion to $3 billion, according to a published report.
However, spokesmen from both companies declined to comment on the Wall Street Journal report, saying their respective companies do not comment on "rumors." The report cited as its source "people with knowledge" of the talks between the both sides.”

“Linden Lab, maker of the popular virtual world "Second Life," is making membership to its metaverse free.
The company said that because free membership will likely prompt a significant number of people to join Second Life, revenue from virtual land the new members buy will probably make up for the loss of subscription fees.”
