“Meru Networks Inc. has announced a partnership with Juniper Networks Inc. that is largely focused on implementations of voice over wireless LAN. The partnership includes interoperability testing and joint sales engagements, according to Meru officials. "This ties the wireless voice-over-IP focus that we have with the enterprise security focus that they have," said Ihab Abu-Hakima, CEO of Meru, in Sunnyvale, Calif.”

“Microsoft has been working on a number of anti-spam projects, including SmartScreen technology in Microsoft mail servers and the Sender ID program. In addition, the company has set up more than 100,000 MSN Hotmail "trap" accounts. These are accounts that the company monitors to draw in spam and follow the possible links to phishing scams.”

“SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 4 - On Friday afternoon, Leonard Sprague, a general contractor in Gainesville, Fla., saw the electronic plea. "I hope someone can help," someone using the name ZuluOne wrote to an online bulletin board. "I am trying to get a current overlay for the area around 2203 Curcor Court in Gulfport, Miss." Mr. Sprague knew that "current overlay" meant a bird's-eye view. And an altruistic impulse combined with an urge to play with a new technology propelled him into action. Using his PC, he superimposed a freshly available posthurricane aerial photograph over a prehurricane image of the same neighborhood. After 15 minutes, he had an answer.”

“An Australian court has ruled that people using the popular file-swapping program Kazaa are infringing copyright.
The Federal Court ordered Kazaa's owners, Sharman Networks, to modify the software to prevent further piracy.”
