IP PBX provider ShoreTel on April 23 will launch a mixed bag of IP Telephony enhancements designed to make end users more productive and organizations more efficient, and to reduce the total cost of ownership of ShoreTel IPT products.
ShoreTel, whose sweet spot in the VOIP market is SMBs (small and midsize businesses), has released a new version of its software, added new, smaller-footprint IP PBX hardware and built its first SIP (Session Initiation Protocol)-based IP phone.

For Fon, which has forged similar agreements with Internet service providers across Europe, the deal will boost its credibility with U.S. consumers.

It has been more than twenty days since we reported that FON, the share-your-Wi-Fi service company was in talks with Time Warner Cable. Today, a news report from Associated Press confirms the deal and adds, that Time Warner Cable “will let its home broadband customers turn their connections into public wireless hotspots, a practice shunned by most U.S. Internet service providers.” Time Warner spokesperson confirmed the deal, though the two companies didn’t give any specifics.

The findings will disappoint Microsoft chairman Bill Gates, who predicted at the 2004 Davos World Economic Forum that spam would be "eliminated" within two years.

Once installed, the software will provide users with a virtual BlackBerry application experience, including support for BlackBerry email, phone, calendar, address book, tasks, memos, browser, instant messaging and other applications developed for the BlackBerry platform. Devices running the BlackBerry application suite will be able to connect to BlackBerry services via BlackBerry® Enterprise Server as well as BlackBerry® Internet Service.
