One blog created “every second”, BBC News, August 2, 2005

"The blogosphere is continuing to grow, with a weblog created every second, according to blog trackers Technorati. In its latest State of the Blogosphere report, it said the number of blogs it was tracking now stood at more than 14.2m blogs, up from 7.8m in March. It suggests, on average, the number of blogs is doubling every five months. "

"Popular blog search Web site Technorati posted a report on the growth of blogs that shows that, on average, the number of blogs is doubling every five-and-a-half month. As of last month, more than 80,000 blogs were created daily, with a new blog created every second, the report found. Technorati tracks more than 14.2 million blogs. "Yahoo is planning to launch on Wednesday an ad network for small Web publishers intended to strengthen its hand against rival Google. Like Google’s service, Yahoo’s self-serve product will display text ads deemed relevant to the content of specific Web pages. Advertisers pay only when a reader clicks on their ads. Yahoo to Start Tests of Ads on Blog Sites, NYTimes, August 3, 2005


"Call it the battle of the blogs. Yahoo is testing a system that will let it place ads on Web sites of bloggers and other small and medium-size publishers, a market that was created and is dominated by Google.
