Plaxo extends support to Mozilla e-mail client, InfoWorld.com, 26 July 2005

“Plaxo launched a Mozilla Thunderbird-compatible beta version of its e-mail contact management software Tuesday. Plaxo Toolbar for Thunderbird will allow Thunderbird users to update their e-mail contacts and calendars automatically using Plaxo's software. Though many add-ons to Firefox and Thunderbird are available through Mozilla's Web site, this is the first e-mail contact management product to support Thunderbird. In addition to Thunderbird, Plaxo is also fully integrated with Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook. Additionally, Plaxo users can synchronize address book information from a variety of Web-based e-mail providers such as Hotmail and Yahoo Mail.”

Plaxo Tests Contact Manager for Mozilla Thunderbird E-Mail, eWeek.com, 26 July 2005

“The new release, a plug in for Thunderbird, will allow users to synchronize their current Plaxo address book with the Thunderbird address book. Called the Plaxo Toolbar for Thunderbird, the latest version allows the company to extend the reach of its service beyond its primary platform, Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express. Plaxo is also developing a version of the contact manager for both the America Online Inc. e-mail platform and the instant messenger, which is due to go to beta test in a few months.”

Motorola to add Yahoo Web services to mobile, Yahoo.com, 26 July 2005

“Motorola Inc. will put Yahoo Inc. Web services such as search, instant messaging, e-mail and news on its handheld products in a new alliance to take advantage of increasingly powerful mobile devices. Among other things, the agreement aims to have Motorola preinstall Yahoo's services on mobile handsets so carriers and consumers have no need to download or add the services later.”

Motorola touts Yahoo deal, new handsets, CnetNews.com, 26 July 2005

“The company announced it will collaborate with Yahoo so that consumers using Motorola's Linux-based mobile devices and broadband products can access Yahoo services and content. The companies plan to make Yahoo's services available to key operators supporting Yahoo. The services are expected to be available to consumers in major markets starting in 2006.”

CA buys antispam company, CnetNews.com, 26 July 2005

“Computer Associates International announced its cash acquisition of Qurb, an e-mail security software maker, a further expansion for CA into security industry. CA, which previously licensed Qurb's technology for its eTrust consumer products, will integrate Qurb's antispam tool into its eTrust Threat Management Suite. San Mateo, Calif.-based Qurb develops antispam, antiphishing and antifraud software.”

CA aims to curb spam with Qurb, The register, 26 July 2005

“Computer Associates today announced the acquisition of anti-spam firm Qurb for an undisclosed cash sum. Qurb’s identity-based email security technology is designed to block spam and protect users against phishing attacks. The software builds a list of approved senders by scanning existing email and contact folders. People on this list get their email delivered straight to user's email inboxes while content analysis techniques are used to help users identify potentially legitimate messages that have been quarantined.”

Truste aims to guard surfers from spam, CnetNews.com, 26 July 2005

“The program allows Web sites whose e-mail policies conform to Truste's strict privacy and fair practice guidelines to display a seal stating "We Don't Spam.” The program was developed with e-mail specialists Return Path, behind the Bonded Sender accreditation program, and Double Click Email Solutions. Return Path will be the exclusive reseller for the certification program.”

Register.com Extends Contract with David L. Moore as Interim CEO, Register.com, 26 July 2005

“Register.com, Inc.today announced that its board of directors has extended the Company's employment agreement with David L. Moore, the Company's Interim Chief Executive Officer. Register.com is continuing its search for a permanent CEO. Mr. Moore's amended agreement may be terminated by the Company or Mr. Moore on 30 days' prior notice.”
