Last Tuesday, Microsoft announced that Scott Richter, whose company in Colorado, OptInRealBig.com, was considered by antispam activists to be one of the world’s most prolific junk email operations, had agreed to settle a lawsuit with the company for $7 million. After recouping the company’s legal costs, Microsoft executives said they planned to reinvest $5 million of the settlement to fight spam.”
