1. BT to spend £££s plugging VoIP

BT plans to spend millions plugging its broadband telephony service next year as it looks to ramp up its investment in VoIP. The UK's dominant fixed line telco currently runs two VoIP services - BT Communicator (which enables calls to be made via a PC) and BT Broadband Talk (which enables internet calls using a standard phone).

In its latest acquisition of a social networking service, Internet powerhouse Yahoo Inc. on Friday devoured del.icio.us Inc., a startup that enables people to more easily compile and share their favorite content on the Web.

4. Viacom nearing deal to acquire DreamWorks


Viacom is close to acquiring DreamWorks, the privately held studio co-founded by director Steven Spielberg, in a transaction that could take place as soon as this weekend, a source familiar with the plan said Friday.
